## Running out of SMS

There is **no per-SMS overage charge and no end-of-period usage invoice**. When a paid plan uses up its included SMS, Remindlo automatically buys the smallest top-up pack and carries on sending.

Things worth knowing before budgeting:

- Automatic top-up buys the 50 SMS pack (£9), which is where the headline £0.18 per SMS comes from. It is an effective unit rate derived from pack size, not a separate charge.
- Top-ups need an active paid plan. The Free plan cannot buy extra SMS.
- Pack credits belong to the billing period they were bought in. Unused credits do not roll over past renewal.
- A long message is split into segments and each segment is billed separately: 160 characters for plain text, 70 if the text needs Unicode (accented characters or emoji).

## Billing details

- **Currency**: prices are set in GBP. Stripe supports checkout in many local currencies and converts at payment time, so the amount charged in another currency is set by Stripe, not listed here.
- **Billing period**: monthly or yearly, charged in advance.
- **Upgrades and monthly-to-yearly switches**: take effect immediately, invoiced with proration.
- **Yearly-to-monthly downgrades**: scheduled for the end of the period already paid for, not applied immediately.
- **Free plan**: no card required and no expiry.
- **Cancellation**: self-service in the billing portal; the plan keeps running until the paid period ends.
