Why did I get a message from Remindlo?
You most likely received an appointment or service reminder that a business sent you using our platform. This page explains who we are, how to tell a genuine message from a scam, how to stop the messages, and how to report one you never agreed to.
The short version
Remindlo is a software company that delivers appointment reminders on behalf of businesses such as garages, dental practices, salons and vets. We never sell anything to the public and we never ask you for payments, passwords or card details. To stop the messages, reply STOP, or if the message cannot be replied to, ask the business to remove you or email us. To report a message you never agreed to, email abuse@remindlo.co.uk.
Stop the messages
Reply STOP if the message came from a phone number. If it cannot be replied to, ask the business to remove you or email abuse@remindlo.co.uk.
Check it is genuine
A real reminder only mentions an appointment or a service. It never asks for a payment, a password or a one-time code.
Report a message
Email abuse@remindlo.co.uk if you never agreed to be contacted. We investigate every report.
Who is Remindlo?
Remindlo is a software company. We do not sell anything to the public and we will never contact you to sell you something. Businesses such as garages, dental practices, salons and veterinary clinics use our platform to send their own customers reminders about upcoming appointments and services that are due. When you receive one of those reminders, the message comes from that business. We only deliver it on their behalf.
Why did I get a message from Remindlo?
Because a business you have used, or booked an appointment with, sent you a reminder through our platform. The message will normally name the business and refer to an appointment, a service that is due, or a recent visit. If you received it by email, the sender name is the business and the address ends in remindlo.co.uk, which is why our name appears alongside theirs.
Is this a scam or a phishing message?
A genuine reminder sent through Remindlo only tells you about an appointment or a service. Remindlo will never ask you for a password, a card number, a bank transfer, a one-time code, or any payment. We will never ask you to log in to an account with us, because recipients do not have accounts with us. A reminder may contain a link to the business's own booking or website page, so check that the link points to the business you recognise. If a message claiming to come from Remindlo asks you for money or credentials, it did not come from us. Please do not respond to it and report it to us.
How do I stop receiving these messages?
It depends on how the message reached you. If it arrived from a phone number, reply STOP and you will get a confirmation that no further messages will be sent to that number. The words STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, OPTOUT and REVOKE all work in the same way, and you can reply HELP for assistance. Some reminders are sent from a sender name rather than a number, and those cannot be replied to. In that case, ask the business to take you off their reminder list, or email us at abuse@remindlo.co.uk with the number or email address that received the message and we will make sure you are removed.
I never gave this business my phone number. What can I do?
If the message can be replied to, send STOP, which stops it straight away. If it cannot be replied to, or you would rather not deal with the business yourself, report it to us at abuse@remindlo.co.uk. Include the number or email address that received the message, the date and time, and the name of the business if the message mentions it. We investigate every report. Where a business cannot evidence that you agreed to be contacted, we require them to remove your details, and we can suspend accounts that repeatedly break our rules.
Do these messages cost me anything?
Neither Remindlo nor the business charges you for receiving a reminder. Your mobile operator may apply its standard rates for sending a reply such as STOP, depending on your tariff.
What information does Remindlo hold about me?
Only what the business gave us so that the reminder can be delivered, which is typically your name, your phone number or email address, and the appointment details included in the message. We do not sell, rent or share your details, we do not use them to market anything to you, and we do not share them with other businesses on our platform. The business that collected your details is the data controller and is responsible for how they are used.
How do I get my data deleted?
Contact the business that sent you the message, as they control your data and can action most requests directly. If you cannot reach them, or you are not getting a response, email us at abuse@remindlo.co.uk and we will help.
Reporting a message you did not agree to
Businesses using Remindlo must have your permission before they add you to their reminder list, and our terms require it. If you believe that has not happened, tell us at abuse@remindlo.co.uk. To help us act quickly, please include:
- The phone number or email address that received the message
- The date and roughly the time it arrived
- The name of the business, if the message mentions it
- A copy or screenshot of the message, if you still have it
We aim to acknowledge reports within five working days. We contact the business, ask them to evidence your consent, and require your details to be removed where they cannot. Accounts that repeatedly break our rules are suspended.
If your concern is about the appointment itself, or about how the business holds your details, contacting them directly will usually be quicker, as they control the data. For anything else you can reach us at contact@remindlo.co.uk.
